According to yogic philosophy, the sacral yogic system is theorized to be intimately connected to the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands produce hormones that are vital to our emotional well-being. These adrenal hormones are intimately connected to our cognition, emotion, and mood.
Channeling sacral energy means that you're able to mindfully regulate your mood. With sublimation and regulation, emotional energy can flow naturally to higher states of consciousness. In Kundalini yoga, the main flow of energy occurs along the central axis of the spine. It's theorized that to access higher functioning - analogous to neuroscience's executive functioning - this energy flow must travel upward through yogic systems (solar, heart, throat, brow, crow) along the spine. Many can attest to this subjective experience while some have yet to experience this upward transformation.
Tantra Meditation is a mindfulness technique used to channel sacral energy, transform impulses, and delay gratification. We live in a "get rich, quick" society: a society that exploits sex and devalues the intimacy all relationships (familial, platonic, and romantic) needs. As we immerse ourselves in this kind of society, we may even assimilate in this culture of instant gratification. Instant gratification is a release of energy through the sacral yogic system - energy that can no longer make its upward transformation. When you're able to channel sacral energy, gratification is delayed to await for more joyous rewards: improved intimacy and passion with the ability to savor the flavors of food, of moments, and of life!
