If you didn't know already, I'm a counseling student emphasizing in Clinical Mental Health. I'm in my first semester of graduate school and it's been crazy learning how to balance and manage my time. It has been a learning curve, but I should remember to be patient with myself and believe I'll be able to find a way to balance my work, school, and home responsibilities.
In Psychology, the idea of self-efficacy was developed by Psychologist Albert Bandura. His work interests me and I enjoy exploring the concept of self-efficacy which according to Bandura is an individual's belief in their ability to achieve a goal or successfully complete a task. Studying this, I reference the chakras. I think of the solar plexus chakra which is your core/center, is associated with functions of digestion and excretion, and is related to self-esteem and confidence. Research shows self-esteem and self-efficacy are positively correlated - meaning, when self-esteem increases so does self-efficacy and the opposite.
Counseling theories are rooted in psychology and Bandura's theory of self-efficacy resurfaced. When I want to reflect on my "self-efficacy" and don't quite understand it, I know I can refer to some mindfulness tools relating to the solar plexus... So, try this when you want to promote self-esteem which will promote your belief in your abilities:
Feel the rise and fall of the belly, notice the warmth of your exhales, and try to notice a heat emanating from your core. Listen to the sound of your breath (feel free to incorporate ujjayi "victorious" breath). Bring your attention to your center and as you listen to the sound of your breath, visualize a golden sun overhead. Imagine as if you can feel that heat while connecting to the heat of your exhales, picture you successfully achieving a goal or completing a task (reference from any relevant life events and experiences!).
This will definitely come in handy when balancing work, school, and home responsibilities :)
