Now, this is personal. I don't scour at the fact that I'm an emotional person and my thoughts, words, and actions would more often than not express that I am. Yoga teaches me to observe - to observe my breath, observe how my body moves and stretches, and to observe patterns within.
With that observation, I notice that what's related to the physical world is transient. Human emotions, states and conditions related to the physical world, are in a constant state of change. Personal truths are more stable. When you experience a constant flux of emotions, personal truths and human emotions get tangled - creating a knot. That's kind of how I picture love and relationships. Love is a personal truth - it's a deep knowing of connection that is beyond words. Relationships involve the interplay of emotions. It involves the good, ugly, bad, and beautiful components of emotions and connection. I think of love and relationships as an emotional knot between individuals. A knot strengthen by personal truths that are mutually felt and appreciated.
The takeaway question is: What is your personal truth(s)? Be sure to give yourself time to contemplate and meditate on whatever comes up. It could take minutes, days, months, or years - no rush, just observe and enjoy the process!
