I adopted a kitten from the shelter on the 14th. The shelter thinks she's about 4-5 months. I grew up with a dog, so I didn't think of myself as a cat person until recently. The past few months, I had cat fever. My clients would described the relationship dynamics with their cat and with a busy schedule, a cat's independence led an appealing affect on me as I longed for an animal since my childhood dog past away in 2012.
Something I am learning quickly with Sura is through our play sessions. She is teaching me and sometimes even pushing me to incorporate more play throughout the day. I hear a cat's affection can be rare, so it's best to take advantage of it when the opportunities are there. Once she starts purring, I'm instantly loving on her. I find it therapeutic because Sura brings out my own affection to meet with hers. Even when I have had a long day, I am learning that play is the balancing factor and crucial in emotional and mental health. Here's to Sura, Lightsha Zen's kitty mascot.
