I have my training in one of the most ubiquitous lineages in modern yoga. Vinyasa yoga classes vary immensely from teacher to teacher, so your best bet in knowing what to expect when going into a vinyasa yoga class is to understand the teacher's approach. With that being said, I'll now be taking the open floor and talk about my approach to vinyasa yoga classes.
I introduce breathing exercises (pranayama) as I assist students in setting an intention or point of focus for their practice. I focus on progressive relaxation techniques and guided body scans to help students tune into the body. I highlight body alignment as students hold, settle, and move into yoga postures (asana). I incorporate grounding visualizations throughout the class. My music selection is mostly instrumental or minimal vocals, piano and/or classical music.
I teach active yoga classes in the morning and a lower impact yoga class in the evening. My style of vinyasa yoga is inspired by my passion in alternative healing and mental health, so you may notice some mystic undertones in my instruction style in hopes to spark something deep within your psyche. Yoga classes are held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday!
